Environmental Engineer III - #4050233

Job Description:
As a high-level Professional Engineer in the Department’s Superfund Section, you will perform project management duties related to the investigation and cleanup of sites across the state confirmed to be or potentially contaminated with hazardous substances. You will also provide engineering support for the section in the planning, design, construction, execution and monitoring of sampling plans and remediation technologies. Job Duties:
• Perform project management for hazardous substance sites in accordance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (Superfund Law), and other federal and state laws and regulations
• Review sampling plans; remediation plans; designs; construction drawings and estimates; specifications; and engineering reports; and oversee the construction, operation and maintenance of plans for compliance with accepted engineering standards, principles and practices
• Participate in technical and public meetings, negotiations, site inspections, sampling events
• Coordinate and communicate site activities with other department staff, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, other government agencies, the regulated community, and the public
• Prepare or critically evaluate all project documents. Coordinate review by other agencies
• Provide technical assistance and advice to department staff and management utilizing advanced expertise in engineering planning and review, and site investigation and remediation
• Implement state contracting procedures for site investigation and response action work
• Represent the section, department and State of Missouri in technical and policy workgroups
• Assist in development of other section staff through mentoring, training, and peer review
• Utilize computer and engineering software (Microsoft Office, ArcMap, AutoCAD etc.)

Requirements:
• BS degree in engineering, with ABET accredited curriculum
• Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri
• Ability to travel/valid driver’s license

Desired qualities and skills:
• Excellent communication and writing skills
• Design experience preferred but not required
