After School Drums & Percussion Teacher

The St. Paul’s Schools has an opening for an after-school drum and percussion teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.

The St. Paul’s Schools is an independent, college-preparatory school located in Brooklandville, Maryland. With over 1,300 students from ages six months to grade 12, St. Paul’s School and St. Paul’s School for Girls share a 120-acre campus, an Episcopal affiliation, and more than 100 current families with children at both schools. The histories of the schools are deeply intertwined, and the school community is truly a family. Governed by one Board of Trustees and overseen by the President of The St. Paul’s Schools, each school retains its distinctive identity, traditions and mission while operating as part of a highly coordinated and collaborative system.

Position Summary 
 
We are looking for a after school drum instructor to teach lessons as part of our after-school music lessons program. While we can be flexible on days and times offered, we would prefer this instructor can start teaching at 3:30pm, immediately after school, until later in the evening. We find the lesson availability immediately following school is most in demand and most convenient for our families. 

Candidate must be comfortable teaching students grades Kindergarten through 12th grade, with most of our students enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th grade. While in the lesson, we expect the teacher to prepare students for their annual recitals, review various skills and techniques in musicianship and performance that make sense developmentally. 

Key Qualifications

Candidate must be organized, great communicator and reliable. A master’s degree in music education or specific musical focus is preferred, but not required. Candidate must have minimum two years teaching experience with children. Experience playing at a professional level is preferred, but not required.
