Intersession Class & Trek: Tech and Entrepreneurship in the Bay Area

Are you interested in learning more about startups, tech companies, and entrepreneurship? Apply for the second annual West Coast Tech and Entrepreneurship Intersession Trek. Employer visits will include companies like Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Bloomberg Beta and Zoox among many others!

Gain insight into the business side of tech and entrepreneurship through one week of in-class learning (Jan. 13-17), followed by a four-day trip to the San Francisco Bay Area (Jan. 21-24). While in the Bay Area we will connect with a variety of employers. Opportunities will include visits to large tech companies like Cisco and Palo Alto Networks, educational visits to companies working in innovative areas (like self-driving car technology), and early-stage networking opportunities at alumni-led incubators. You will also have the opportunity to expand your network by attending alumni events and networking with other Blue Jays!

Thanks to a generous gift from an alumni to the Career Center the total cost of the trip is $375. Students will be notified of their acceptance via email by November 20th, and the fee will be due by Friday, December 6th. The fee covers flights to and from the Bay Area, three nights in a hotel, and entry to the alumni event. Financial Assistance is available to those who qualify. Selected students are required to participate in a mandatory trip meeting (date TBD).

Transportation and Lodging:
Transportation and lodging are included in the program fee. Because of the nature of the trip and the tight scheduling of employer visits, we expect you to stay with the group while in the Bay Area. No refund will be made for students who choose to travel on their own after the trip. All hotel accommodations are non-smoking double rooms. Smart casual attire is required for each day of the trip.

Questions? Contact Emily Hogan in the career center (ehogan3@jhu.edu).

Financial Assistance is available to students currently receiving financial aid from JHU.
