Technical Sales Apprentice (Sales Engineer)

Program start date: January 11, 2021 or June 2021

Phoenix Contact’s Apprentice Program is designed for students with an interest in a sales engineer role (technical sales) or who want to use their Engineering degree not only for the technical aspect, but who want to work directly with people, building relationships and growing an organization

Apprentices spend 12-18 months in a hands-on rotational training program that introduces them to all facets of our business. Examples of these rotations include Technical Marketing, Industry Management, Technical Service, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality and Quotes. Rotations can be classroom style training, shadowing, hands on projects or research based, all geared towards preparing the apprentice for life as a field sales engineer. Also included in the program are professional development courses and the apprentice is matched with two mentors to help them navigate the role.

After completion of the training program, apprentices are placed in a technical sales role in the field. Specific location is based upon current openings, so apprentices must be willing to relocate anywhere within the US. Recent placements have been to Chicago, Boston, Houston and Los Angeles, just to name a few.

The program is based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Compensation & Benefits:
This position is considered full time and not a temporary or contract position. Apprentices are eligible for our full time benefit package upon hire.Base salary is $55,000/year. Salary is firm, no negotiations. In addition we offer a $10k sign on bonus, paid out over 1 year. This information is subject to change.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively
• Ability to prioritize projects and assignments
• Strong organization skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to relocate as required and assigned
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent presentation skills
• Detailed reporting skills
