Scientist, Bio-conjugation

Scientist, Bio-conjugation Process Development
Responsibilities:
  • Perform bio-conjugation technical transfers from clients to assess the feasibility of performing the process on site, evaluation of any additional instrumentation or equipment necessary, availability of all materials, and scalability of the process
  • Design experiments as necessary to develop, optimize, or troubleshoot bio-conjugation processes
  • Draft Experimental Plans and bill of materials to execute all processes to be reviewed by supervisor and clients
  • Execute bio-conjugation processes and purifications within the process development laboratory
  • Perform or support the analytical testing of the bio-conjugates (SEC-HPLC, RP-HPLC, CE-SDS, cIEF,
  • ELISA, A280, CAR, etc)
  • Communicate the status of projects effectively with supervisor, clients, and project management
  • Draft Summary Reports to report the results of all bio-conjugation processes in well-organized document
  • with insightful interpretations of results for supervisor and client review
  • Manage CTO testing as needed for extended characterization of bio-conjugates
  • Coordinate and oversee the tech transfer activities from process development to downstream manufacturing team complying with GMP regulations and scale-up as needed
  • Participate in the implementation of new technologies as appropriate
  • Work cross-functionally with Analytical Development team as appropriate

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Ph.D. (with 3+ years) or M.S. (with 5+ years) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry / Chemical Biology / Biochemistry / Chemical / Biochemical Engineering with 3+ years of industry experience
  • Familiarity with bio-conjugation reactions including scale-up and purification of bio-conjugates
  • Familiarity with common analytical methods such as HPLC, ELISA, A280, cIEF, CE-SDS, LC-MS, RCP, DAR
  • Familiarity using DOE (design of experiments) approach to process optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and computer skills
