Staff Biomedical Engineer - Sample Prep Consumable

As a Staff Biomedical Engineer, you will complete the development of the sample prep method and consumable prototype and transition the method and consumable into market-ready manufacturing. In joining our team, you will be working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, microfluidics, clinical microbiology, and engineering to help hospitals combat antibiotic resistance. Flexibility is key. In this role, you will play an integral part in advancing our novel technology and developing a best in class diagnostic device.

How You Will Contribute

  • Complete sample preparation method development in the lab.
  • Guide the sourcing, procurement, and implementation of the sample prep consumable.
  • Perform Verification and Validation testing for the sample prep consumable.
  • Manage the development of the manufacturing process of the sample prep consumable.
  • Manage, capture, and review critical data: accurately and consistently recording experimental methods, materials, and results.
  • Conceive and conduct independent experimentation from project inception through product launch.
  • Analyze data, form conclusions, and determine future experimental plans.
  • Recommend expansion or curtailment of activities based on the latest information.
  • Perform work in a BSL-2 laboratory including processing clinical specimens and bacterial culture propagation and maintenance.
  • Assume responsibility for timely completion of projects, consistent with the project critical path.
  • Effectively adjust to changing priorities.

We'd Love to Hear from You if You

  • Have a strong track record in experimental science and applied engineering and an interdisciplinary mindset.
  • Have experience with sample prep method development. (Preferred)
  • Have some microbiology expertise in addition to engineering and quantitative skills.
  • Possess strong wet lab skills and experience including cell culturing.
  • Can devise and execute intellectually rigorous experiment plans and use data-driven conclusions to inform further experiments.
  • Excel with data analysis and possess critical thinking skills with an eye for experimental detail.
  • Drive your own work towards team goals and enjoy working collaboratively.
  • Communicate well across disciplines including scientists and engineers, especially articulating design requirements.
  • Are a continuous learner.
  • Most of all, we value individuals with the ability to breakdown a problem into its fundamental components to devise rational solutions.

Education & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Biology (with relevant sample prep experience) plus 3-5 years of experience; or
  • M.S. in Biomedical Engineering plus 4 years of experience; or
  • B.S. in Biomedical Engineering plus 6 years of experience.
