Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Supervising Engineer

The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Supervising Engineer perform the most complicated traffic signal system management work requiring a substantial level of professional training and experience. The position will be in charge of the City’s five person Team that handles the maintenance of the City’s traffic signal system and related communications infrastructure, testing new traffic technology projects, and provides leadership on cybersecurity issues that affect the Portland Bureau of Transportation. 

The Supervising Engineer will report directly to the Manager of the Traffic Signals, Street Lighting, ITS and Electrical Maintenance Division. The management of tasks will include the oversight of the City’s new Transit Signal Priority implementation for the Division Transit Project (joint with TriMet) and the replacement of the City’s adaptive signal system (with the Oregon Department of Transportation) on SE Powell Boulevard. This position will be working remotely during the pandemic and will ultimately report to the Portland Building for a portion of the normal work week.
