U.S. Army Test & Evaluation Command Seeking Recent Graduates (Engineers, Operations Research Analysts, & Computer Scientists)

Salary Range: $37,674 to $48,978 Base / PLUS Locality Pay (based on location). Total salary will depend on series and location offered.

Positions Recruiting: Engineers (General, Mechanical, and Electrical), Computer Scientists, and Operations Research Analysts.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Travel requirements – up to 25%
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance
  • If selected, must sign a mobility agreement
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required
  • Considering students who have or will graduate by 31 May 2021
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Payment of moving expenses is authorized subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations

Competencies Desired: Data analysis, modeling and simulation, communication (oral/written), internships, problem solving, conflict resolution, hands-on lab/field experiences, logical/critical thinking, high- level projects, presentation skills, leadership skills.

Duties
Serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) Sub Command / Test Center wherein the assigned mission is to conduct test and evaluation on a variety of Army equipment (i.e. artillery, small arms, armor, automotive, and ammunition) to determine whether such material is qualified for production and whether U.S. Army standards of quality are being maintained.

At the developmental level you will perform assignments concerned with test and/or evaluation of a wide variety of military systems and equipment. Typical assignments include, but are not limited to the following; serves as a support engineer or scientist, performing instrumentation engineering, development, testing, or integration where established criteria and technical precedents are generally established. Guidance from senior professional engineers and scientists is provided if precedents do not exist due to the accuracy and critical operating performance required for the acquisition and reduction of data in the dynamic testing of Army material. These systems are composed of new and unusual types of equipment that are complex and must meet high standards of precision.

Basic Qualifications:
Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required later on as part of your application.

Computer Science Qualifications - Computer Science Series 1550 (opm.gov)

GS-07: OPM Basic Qualifications have to be met. One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing routine scientific or engineering tasks to assist higher level employees. 2) Knowledge of engineering principles and concepts to determine applicability to the work being performed.

Education substitution: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement. (GPA of 3.0 or higher)
