Manufacturing Operations Intern

Summary of Internship

The Manufacturing Operations Internship position provides an opportunity for science or engineering students who are currently pursuing a chemical engineering, chemistry, or like engineering/science degree to get hands on experience working with chemists/engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The intern will contribute to practical process improvement projects and lean manufacturing. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

Essential Functions
  • Provide support related to practical process improvements including production and qualification optimization
  • Support a variety of activities such as troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Provide feedback on safety observations, 6S opportunities, and documentation improvements
  • Learn about manufacturing operations through daily activities
  • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
  • Specific tasks will be tailored to the intern’s experience level and abilities
  • Works under the close supervision of chemists/engineers and manufacturing manager

  • Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing ion chromatography consumables

  • Desire to teach other engineers/chemists about technology in area of expertise

  • Qualifications
  • Pursing an undergrad degree in Engineering or Science
  • Experience with manufacturing is a plus
