Natural Resource Management Internship at Huntley Meadows Park
This internship is designed to give interested college students or recent graduates the opportunity to work with professional park staff to preserve and enhance native plant communities and wildlife habitats at a 1,554 acre wetland preserve. It provides practical experience in the skills and abilities needed for a career in wildlife management and environmental sciences. This internship offers a $3,000 award funded by The Friends of Huntley Meadows Park.

APPLICANTS College students or graduates, preferably with a major in wildlife biology, environmental science, or other applied sciences.
DUTIES Natural Resources
-Assist resource management crew with habitat management for wetlands, meadows, and forests.
-Conduct encroachment inspections along park boundary.
-Promote and protect native and rare Natural Communities in the park.
-Control invasive plants.
Research
-Take part in water quality assessments.
-Participate in the invasive species program.
-Coordinate with nest box monitors on the bluebird program.
-Vegetation classification.
-Map rare plant species
Maintenance
-Work with the resource management crew on trail, grounds, and facility maintenance projects.
Projects
-Write an article for the Friends of Huntley Meadows newsletter describing the summer internship.
-Coordinate a natural resources project for the summer.
-Work with staff on environmental education programs and visitor services.
