Nurse Specialist for Infection Prevention & Control, Part Time

HEALTH DEPARTMENT
SALARY: $40.00 per hour

This is a part-time position in the City of New Haven Health Department that is responsible for providing guidance and coordination on infection prevention and control efforts to local partners. The nurse will work with high-risk and healthcare facilities within New Haven to develop and strengthen infection prevention and control policies and practices; and, will work to build local capacity by establishing a city-wide infection control committee/task force and will support the COVID-19 hotline.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS include:
Graduation from an accredited National League of Nursing (N.L.N.) program with a Bachelor of Science degree program in Nursing or, a diploma from a three-year hospital school of nursing, or an Associates’ Degree in nursing; 3 years of professional experience with knowledge of infection control practices preferred. The knowledge, skills and abilities as stated in the job description, including but not limited to: Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices in care and community settings; Knowledge of functions and services of other community health agencies and resources; Ability to administer vaccines.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid, current Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Connecticut. Valid current Connecticut driver’s license and access to personal transportation. May be required to travel in the New Haven area. Flexibility of schedule (position will include evenings/weekends/early morning hours). Completion of assigned Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Epidemiology (APIC) training modules within 30 days of hire.
