DEPARTMENT: LIVABLE CITY INITIATIVE, CITY OF NEW HAVEN
SALARY: Minimum $54,158 ANNUALIZED
This is a challenging and responsible position, which requires the administration of a complex program in close collaboration with other team members. The Neighborhood Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and managing a full range of community related activities with direct responsibility for assigned projects and programs. Such work will require a willingness to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends if necessary), some of which will be in the City’s neighborhoods, in order to collaborate and coordinate objectives of neighborhood groups and City Officials. The Neighborhood Specialist works under the direction of the department director or designee.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS include:
Post secondary education preferred with course work in community development, urban affairs or a related field, and 2-5 years experience in economic development and community outreach; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills, including but not limited to: Knowledge of municipal/urban affairs; Ability to work with diverse community groups; Ability to communicate effectively in writing and to make presentations. Bilingual (Spanish/English) helpful.
