Construction Inspection Supervisor (Supervisor I - E)

The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) Engineering Services Group is seeking candidates for a Supervisor I position in BES’ Construction Inspection section within the Construction & Inspection Division and is responsible for ensuring safe, cost-effective, quality construction of wastewater treatment facility improvements, sewer, and stormwater collection system projects, and watershed enhancement projects.

Along with another supervisor in this section, the position is responsible for planning, supervising, and ensuring a unit of employees engaged in public works construction inspection activities and functions are performed; administering related service contracts; and performing related duties as assigned.

Work of the Construction Inspection section involves electrical, mechanical, structural, and civil construction, with an increased focus on wastewater pumping and treatment facility projects in addition to ongoing pipe and other infrastructure projects. This section’s staff are responsible for inspection of all BES projects, making necessary field measurements, providing detailed documentation and reporting, acting as on-site representatives of the City to the Public, enforcing construction and safety standards, and facilitating communication between the project teams and project stakeholders. 

This position helps supervise and oversee staff activities to ensure achievement of unit goals and objectives; coordinating and supervising unit programs and functions, and at times carrying out duties performed by subordinates.
